How it works

Reverse osmosis filters through multiple stages: pre-carbon, the RO membrane, then a remineralizing post-carbon stage. It reduces dissolved solids that a carbon stage alone does not catch.

What's behind the faceplate

Tank vs. tankless

The tankless unit is about the size of a games console and takes up very little under-sink space. Most homeowners prefer it, and filter changes are simple enough to do yourself. Tank-style is the better call on well water, where higher TDS or lower pressure makes the reserve tank useful. Either is usually added at the same visit as the whole-home system.
